Centre for Health Initiatives celebrates 10th birthday

The Centre for Health Initiatives (CHI) at UOW, established to develop innovative solutions that address current health and social issues, will celebrate its 10th  birthday tomorrow Thursday 29 May.

CHI is a Research Strength of UOW and was established by Professor Sandra Jones in 2004. The Centre brings together academics and practitioners from disciplines including Medicine, Psychology, Nursing, Business, Education and Social Sciences.

“Our vision is to make a difference in people’s lives by developing innovative solutions that address current health and social issues. We continue to achieve this vision by working with our community partners and academic members,” according to CHI Scientific Director, Associate Professor Peter Caputi.

“Our academic members represent diverse disciplines, universities and organisations. Tomorrow’s celebratory event acknowledges their contribution and encourages continued collaboration and research that improves health and wellbeing,” he said.

The Centre for Health Initiatives Annual Report will also be launched at the function, showcasing a range of research and social marketing initiatives achieved in 2013.
