Leading lawyers mentor UOW’s next generation of female law graduates

Some of Australia’s finest female lawyers have volunteered their time and expertise to be mentors for final year female ¾«¶«´«Ã½ of ¾«¶«´«Ã½ School of Law students as part of the annual Lucy Mentoring Program. 

The program is a joint initiative of Careers Central and the School of Law and sees students paired with respected female lawyers for a three-month period. This year’s participants will meet their mentors for the first time on the evening of 12 June at UOW’s Innovation Campus. 

UOW Dean of Law Professor Warwick Gullett said the program, currently in its seventh year, matches mentors with students based on the student’s area of study or interest.

 “Our mentors are very highly regarded in their fields of expertise. They are generous women and committed to supporting the next generation of female lawyers,” Professor Gullett said. 

“The School of Law is deeply committed to providing our students with experiential learning opportunities and Lucy is just one of the ways we do this. We look forward to following the many success stories which come from this program,” he added. 

This year’s mentors include Justice Nicola Pain, Judge for the Land and Environment Court of NSW, Anne Mowbray, Partner at Verekers Lawyers, ¾«¶«´«Ã½, and Erin Lynch from People & Culture Strategies, who was recently recognised for her work as an employment lawyer at the .
