UOW ranks in world’s top one per cent for graduate employability

For the second year in a row the ¾«¶«´«Ã½ of ¾«¶«´«Ã½ (UOW) has ranked in the top one per cent of the world for graduate employability.

A fresh round of data has been released today (Thursday 24 November), by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), which places UOW in the top 150-200 of universities around the world for graduate employability outcomes.

The QS Graduate Employability Rankings, now in its second year, evaluates the links between university practices and graduate employability. The rankings are compiled by considering responses from almost 38,000 employers, mapping the degrees and affiliations of over 20,000 high-achievers, considering 70,000 employers’ connections with graduates and evaluating over 180,000 work placement partnerships.

UOW Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Wellings, CBE, said the result confirms UOW’s longstanding ranking in graduate employability.

“We are above the national average when it comes to internships and placements which highlights our ability to make graduates more employable,” Professor Wellings said.

“As a country we (Australian universities) are achieving outstanding results and I’m pleased to see ¾«¶«´«Ã½ is well and truly on the map.”

The categories assessed as part of QS employability rankings include alumni outcomes, employer-student connections, partnerships with employers, graduate employment rate and employer reputation, for which UOW placed in the top ten universities in Australia.

The QS results mirror other accolades that . In September QS ranked UOW as the world’s 12th best young university and prior to that UOW jumped 25 places to 218th in the QS World ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Rankings, placing it among Australia’s top 10 universities.

Previous results also show that 73% of UOW graduates are employed full time within four months of completing their course.
