CCCU students take part in two-week exposure program.

A group of students and teachers from Hong Kong’s Community College of City ¾«¶«´«Ã½ (CCCU) have embarked on an academic and cultural study tour of UOW, the Illawarra and Sydney.

In July 2015 UOW assumed stewardship and governance of CCCU, strengthening UOW’s position as a global higher education provider in North-East Asia. In 2016 the first CCCU study tour took place at UOW.

Over the next two weeks, 41 students and two staff members from CCCU will participate in a variety of activities including English Conversation groups, English for Academic Purposes lessons, academic briefings, community engagement and local sightseeing activities. The students will stay with local families for the duration of the tour.

The group will be attending the Welcome to ¾«¶«´«Ã½ event today (Tuesday 8 August) and will participate in an all-day community engagement activity with Conservation Volunteers at Lake Illawarra on Wednesday 16 August.

Since 2016, UOW has hosted more 70 students from CCCU through study tours. The study tour provides an opportunity for the students to visit Australia, visit the ¾«¶«´«Ã½ campus, gain a taste of Australian culture and improve their language skills.

The study tour has been supported by a variety of UOW faculties and divisions to present a program that provides cultural insights and academic learning. Students will be required to present what they have learned about Australia on their last day on campus to a panel of both UOW and CCCU staff. The presentation will form part of the assessment for the study tour.
