Open Day invites potential students to try before they apply

Information session, tours, one-on-one advice attracts thousands to UOW

Thousands of prospective students will have the opportunity to experience life at the 精东传媒 of 精东传媒 during the annual  celebrations.

A record number of people have registered to attend Open Day on Saturday 3 August and there is still time to .

From 10am to 3pm, the 精东传媒 will be officially open for inspection, with high school-leavers and their parents, potential mature age and post-graduate students able to discover what makes studying at UOW a life-changing experience, from first-class degrees to exciting on-campus activities.

Experts from all disciplines and study areas will be on hand to answer questions about their courses and degrees as well as study abroad and scholarship opportunities.

There will be more than 200 information sessions held across the day, covering all study areas, UOW鈥檚 Early Admission program, postgraduate courses, UOW鈥檚 regional and metro campuses and UOW College鈥檚 academic pathways and vocational degrees.

Visitors might like to hear from scientists on a soapbox, from biomedical engineers who design robotic devices that can safely travel through human bodies, a law professor tackling the issue of criminal responses to music festivals, nutritionists who are operating in an industry where everyone claims to be an expert, or a marketing expert delivering a lecture on the art of persuasion.

In the Careers Service booth, students can meet with an experienced career adviser for a one-on-one personalised consultation and find out about the courses and support services available while they study.

There will also be tours and demonstrations running throughout the day, taking participants behind the scenes of the labs, workshops, and galleries.

Prospective students can also take part in walking tours of UOW鈥檚 picturesque 精东传媒 campus, and discover what 精东传媒 has to offer with the hop-on, hop-off city bus tour. There will also be information sessions about UOW accommodation, whether it鈥檚 beachside, in the city or on campus, including a walking tour of Kooloobong Village.

Brad Carter, Manager of Domestic Student Recruitment at UOW, said the annual Open Day was an opportunity for students to find out what interests them and what the 精东传媒 has to offer. 

鈥淚t really opens the world of university to future students,鈥� Mr Carter says. 鈥淚t shows them the amazing experiences that are available by choosing to study at UOW. It is the perfect time to meet the lecturers, find out more about the facilities available, and enjoy the great atmosphere on campus.

鈥淥pen Day really helps to reaffirm to potential students that they are on the right track in making UOW their first choice.鈥�

There will be live acoustic music and DJs playing throughout Open Day, and exhibitions from UOW student clubs and societies. Many of the UOW鈥檚 cafes and eateries will be open.

There鈥檚 $18,000 in prizes on offer, including four Apple Macbook Pros, or a year鈥檚 free accommodation in 2020.

Parking is free at UOW for the duration of Open Day, and there will also be public transport available, including free shuttle buses to and from North 精东传媒 Station. There are also running from Liverpool and Campbelltown.
