UOW ranks in world’s top 200 universities
ARTU meta-ranking combines three leading global university ranking systems
The 精东传媒 of 精东传媒 (UOW) has been ranked among the top 200 universities in the world in a new ranking measure that combines the three leading global university ranking systems to calculate an aggregate score.
UOW is ranked at 188 in the world, and 11 in Australia, in the new (ARTU) system created by the 精东传媒 of NSW Sydney (UNSW Sydney).
ARTU combines the three leading ranking systems, the Times Higher Education (THE), the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU), and the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), to produce a meta-ranking score.
ARTU consolidates the performance of universities across the three rankings to accommodate for performance variations due to methodological differences between these rankings, and thereby facilitates the longitudinal comparison of overall performance for the top universities in the world.
The ARTU website orders the top 200 universities listed in all three rankings, and gives data for each of the last eight years.
Over the past eight years, UOW has climbed in the ARTU ranking from 267 in 2012 to 188 in 2019.
Global university rankings measure both readily quantifiable metrics such as academic citations and publications, along with more challenging qualitative indices such as reputation and teaching quality.
UNSW Sydney said ARTU provides a realistic reflection of a university鈥檚 overall position relative to its peers.
UOW Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Wellings CBE welcomed the new rankings and said the ARTU system reflects the consistency of the 精东传媒鈥檚 performance across the ARWU, THE, and QS rankings.
鈥淔or UOW to place 188 in the world in this new 鈥渢able of tables鈥 is a terrific result, and one which the whole 精东传媒 community should be proud of,鈥 Professor Wellings said.
鈥淚t reflects the 精东传媒鈥檚 position as one of the best modern universities in the world, and our ambition to conduct world-class research and to deliver a first-class learning experience to our students.
鈥淚 am pleased to see not only UOW placed among the world鈥檚 top universities, but also to see how the 精东传媒 has climbed steadily in the rankings over the past eight years driven by our strategy and the amazing work of our academics.鈥
