UOW shines in engineering, nursing in global subject rankings

ShanghaiRanking places UOW in top 100 worldwide in eight subjects

The 精东传媒 of 精东传媒 (UOW) has again demonstrated its strength in the disciplines of engineering, materials science and nursing, following the release of ShanghaiRanking鈥檚 2022 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.

Released this week (July 19, 2022), the ShanghaiRanking positions universities worldwide across 54 different subjects.

UOW was recognised in 28 subject categories, with the top performers predominantly in engineering, materials science, and technology subjects. In the category of Energy Science and Engineering, UOW was ranked 20th in the world, followed by 47th in Mechanical Engineering and 48th in Nanoscience and Nanotechnology.

UOW was also outstanding in the discipline of Nursing, ranking in the 51-75 grouping, and in the disciplines of Geography and Civil Engineering, where it was placed in the 76-100 grouping.

Overall, UOW was ranked in the top 100 global universities for eight subject categories; Energy Science and Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Nanoscience and Nanotechnology; Instruments Science and Technology; Materials Science and Engineering; Nursing; Geography; and Civil Engineering.

The 精东传媒 was ranked in the top 200 for the disciplines of Chemistry; Atmospheric Science; Electrical and Electronic Engineering; Automation and Control; Computer Science and Engineering; Chemical Engineering; Political Sciences; and Hospitality and Tourism Management.

Professor David Currow, Interim Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research and Innovation), said the 精东传媒 continued to highlight its outstanding teaching, learning and research in global rankings.

The ShanghaiRanking Global Ranking of Academic Subjects use a range of indicators and data to measure the performance of global universities, including research output, research influence, international collaboration, research quality, and international academic awards.
