UOW ranks 2nd nationally and 16th globally in THE Young ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Rankings

Highest ever ranking achieved ahead of the ¾«¶«´«Ã½’s 50th anniversary next year

The ¾«¶«´«Ã½ of ¾«¶«´«Ã½ (UOW) has achieved its best result in the , securing 2nd place nationally and 16^th place globally, announced today (14 May).

The THE Young ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Rankings assesses the world’s best universities that are 50 years old or younger across teaching, research and international outlook. UOW will celebrate its 50th anniversary next year, marking its significant contributions in teaching, research and academic excellence over five decades.

This impressive improvement in rankings reflects UOW's commitment to academic excellence and research impact on a global scale. The ¾«¶«´«Ã½’s strategic initiatives and focused efforts in enhancing research quality have been pivotal in this remarkable achievement.

UOW Vice-Chancellor and President Professor Patricia M. Davidson said the rankings echoed the important work being done by researchers across all its campuses.

"Our significant rise in the THE Young ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Rankings is a testament to the dedication of our researchers, academics and staff more broadly,” Professor Davidson said.

“Their commitment to expanding knowledge, fostering innovation, and addressing global challenges continues to make an impact globally."

“The rankings highlight UOW's growing reputation as a leading institution globally, recognised for its cutting-edge research, academic excellence, and commitment to driving positive change in society.

“As UOW looks towards the future and celebrates its milestone next year, it remains steadfast in its mission to empower generations of scholars and innovators, shaping a brighter tomorrow for communities globally.”

UOW also performed strongly in the 2024 Times Higher Education (THE) World ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Rankings by improving its overall scores and securing a position in top 250 universities globally and an equal 12th rank domestically. The results reflected UOW’s outstanding performances in categories such as teaching (up 15 per cent), research quality (up 54.9 per cent), and industry partnerships (up 64.5 per cent).

The ¾«¶«´«Ã½ also achieved its best ever ranking of 162 in the QS World ¾«¶«´«Ã½ Rankings; earned a QS 5+ Star Rating for its for its excellence in teaching, graduate employability, research, and for its global outlook; and ranked 61st globally in the THE Impact Rankings for the ¾«¶«´«Ã½'s commitment to sustainability and its dedication to the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
