Physics at the 精东传媒 of 精东传媒 has been rated as 鈥渨ell above world standard鈥 in the Excellence is Research for Australia results released recently. As well as scoring the highest possible rating of 5 for the entire Field of Research (FOR) 鈥02 鈥 Physical Sciences鈥, the maximum score of 5 was also attained in the sub-fields of 鈥0204 鈥 Condensed Matter Physics鈥 and in 鈥0299 鈥 Other Physical Sciences鈥, which embraces 鈥029903 鈥 Medical Physics鈥. These results are a testimony to the research powerhouses of the Institute for Superconducting and Electronic Materials (0204) and the Centre for Medical and Radiation Physics (0299).

Mathematics has also been recognised with the maximum ratings in two areas. The Institute for Mathematics and its Applications can take pride in a rating of 5 in 鈥0102 鈥 Applied Mathematics鈥 and the National Institute for Applied Statistics Research Australia celebrates a rating of 5 in 鈥0104 鈥 Statistics鈥.

Other top ratings of 鈥渨ell above world standard鈥 are spread across the Faculty of Engineering and Information Sciences. These include 鈥0804 鈥 Data Format鈥; 鈥0907 鈥 Environmental Engineering鈥; and 鈥0912 鈥 Materials Engineering鈥; to the credit of the Schools of Computer and Information Technology; Civil, Mining and Environmental Engineering; and Mechanical, Materials, Mechatronic and Biomedical Engineering, respectively.

Since the last ERA survey in 2015, the breadth of research quality in the Faculty has increased substantially. Whereas in 2015 there were 13 ratings 鈥渁bove world standard鈥 or 鈥渨ell above world standard鈥, the Faculty now boasts 19 such ratings.
