Congratulations to our Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Winners
UOW’s 3MT final was held Wednesday 10 August with nine HDR students presenting their thesis in 3 minutes, with the help of just one slide.
Finalists were judged by a panel including UOW Vice-Chancellor Patricia Davidson, Professor David Currow, Professor Lorna Moxham, Professor Huijun Li, Natalie Chapman, Dr Erin Twyford and PhD Candidate Davina Robson.
Congratulations to Sarah Vogel (above) our 2022 3MT Winner. Sarah鈥檚 presentation, 鈥淭reating brain cancer with one shot,鈥� detailed how she is using nanoparticles combined with synchrotron radiation to design safer, more effective imaging and treatment for patients with high-grade brain cancers, especially gliobastoma. Sarah will now compete in the 2022 Asia-Pacific Virtual 3MT competition on Wednesday 19 October 2022.
Catherine Stephen, from the School of Nursing, was named both Runner Up and People鈥檚 Choice Award winner, presenting her research in 鈥淚mproving blood pressure control in primary care鈥� and her positive results reducing blood pressure in at risk patients through primary care nurse visits.
Environmental Engineer Michael Stapleton was also awarded 3MT Runner Up, with his presentation 鈥淢icroplastic pollution from an unlikely source: The unintentional dark side of plastic recycling鈥�.
The judges commended all finalists on the high calibre of presentations delivered at the event.
