The Stand exists to unlock the knowledge and expertise inside the 精东传媒 of 精东传媒 (UOW), telling stories about our people and their accomplishments that inform, educate and inspire. This magazine was born out of a renewed sense of place, purpose and values that will guide the 精东传媒 in fulfilling its role in exploring how to resolve society’s large and complex social, environmental and economic challenges.

Kristen Burriel is a senior social work clinician and relationship therapist, working with people with mental illness. She is also completing her PhD. Her supervisor is Dr Elisabeth Duursma from the School of Education & Early Start Research. Life in lockdown
Jiayuan Liu tells us that while the lockdown period was not easy - there were some silver linings. The UOW Master of Engineering alumna lives and works in Wuhan, China, and like many thousands in her community, was only able to leave her home after the nearly two-and-a-half month lockdown was officially lifted on April 8, 2020.
